Tune Out The Static
Are you having trouble hearing from God? Do you find it difficult to get direction from the Holy Spirit? Does it seem like the Lord is not speaking to you? Well, read on for some practical help about hearing His voice.
The truth is that God longs to speak with every single one of us. He created us to fellowship with Him, and a key component in fellowship is communication. If we are not hearing His voice, we can be certain that the problem is not with God.
We can compare hearing from God to listening to a radio broadcast. We may not have our radio receiver tuned correctly and we may be getting static. If we tune into the right wave length, we can get a clearer reception. Perhaps we have been going to the wrong place to get direction. If we are going to friends, relatives, or even godly role models to get the answers to life’s dilemmas, we are tuned into the wrong station. If we want to hear from God, then we have to go to God. Pray and ask Him to speak to you. Then listen to your inner man- He frequently speaks to your heart. He can also speak to you when you read the Word.
Our “radio” may be getting static because there is some sort of interference. Nearby electrical devices can interfere with a radio’s ability to get clear reception. In the same way, there may be things in our lives interfering with our ability to hear Him. Maybe we are too busy with others things to listen. Maybe worry is causing static. Perhaps we might even have sin in our lives that is blocking the signal. If you ask God, He will show you anything that needs to be adjusted to tune out the static.
God is talking. We need to make sure we eliminate anything that can keep us from hearing.
The sheep that are My own hear and are listening to My voice; and I know them, and they follow Me. John 10:27 (Amplified Bible Classic Edition, AMPC)
