Work is God's Idea

One of the things God has put us on earth to do is work; not in the flesh, but by God’s Spirit (Zechariah 4:6). We partner with God to accomplish things in the earth. When God blesses the labor of our hands, there is a supernatural increase and we can accomplish so much more. An example is when Jesus fed the multitudes with just a few fishes and loaves.

Work brings fulfillment, gives us purpose, and enables us to be a part of God’s plan. Ecclesiastes says that we are to rejoice in the work of our hands and that to enjoy our work is a gift from God.

I like what Pastor John Hagee says: “Nothing works until you work.” As we work, God works with us, blessing what we do. Psalms 90:17 says that God will establish the work of our hands. When we do our work for God, things work. It’s as simple as that. If we do our work with a right heart and a good attitude, as unto the Lord and not as unto men, Gods sees and blesses us- even if our employer doesn’t always notice. If we work and maintain a good attitude, God will promote us. God did this with Joseph when he caused him to be promoted by Pharaoh to second in command over all of Egypt.

Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God; and whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. Colossians 3:22-24 (KJV)

You can believe and claim that whatever you put your hands to will prosper. However, if you don’t put your hand to anything, God cannot prosper it. He does not reward laziness. we must give Him something to work with. If He is going to multiply the work of your hands, 0x0=0, so we must do our part so he has something to multiply. You may start out small, but be encouraged; if you stay faithful then God will increase you and give you more.

Work is to be enjoyed. Of course every job has its less-than-perfect tasks and duties, but overall, we are to enjoy our work. if you do not like what you are doing, keep doing it with a good attitude while you search for another job. And remember that what you do today is seed that you are planting for a good harvest in the future, so how we handle our current situation is important. God is faithful, and whatever you did not receive on your job that you deserved, He will repay you for it. God will make it up to you.

Know that wherever you are and whatever you do, you have an assignment to advance the Kingdom of God, sharing the Gospel- even if only by your actions rather than words. Keep shining. Keep loving. Treat people right. You can impact people for Jesus wherever you go.

Through work God will increase us more and more. And don’t limit God to only your job to increase you. He can and will do so much more than your job can produce for you. He can give you multiple streams of income if you trust Him and do what He puts before you to do. God is good, and he loves you. Put Him first, and He will prosper you. So, do all your work for the glory of God.

And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. Colossians 3:17 (KJV)
