God is in the Healing Business

Our God is a healing God. It is His intention that we live a good life, one free from sickness and suffering. When Jesus died on the cross, one of the things His death purchased for us was healing and good health. Along, with salvation, He provided divine healing. You might say it is included in the salvation package.

The devil is the one who wants to inflict us with sickness and harm. He has absolutely no good intentions for us. John 10:10 says that he comes to steal, kill, and destroy.

As believers, it is up to us to enforce what Jesus already did for us at Calvary. The horrendous battering that His body endured was so that we could walk in divine health. As we meditate on the healing scriptures of the Bible and let them get deep down in our hearts, the truth of God’s healing power will become real to us. Then, we must speak forth our healing by confessing out loud what the Bible says about healing. “I believe I am healed of ___.” Keep in mind, it may not happen overnight, and the enemy will test us to see if we are serious in our faith. But if we are persistent and do not contradict our spoken words about healing, healing will manifest in our bodies.

The spoken word carries great power, and if we speak words of healing, we will eventually receive healing as a result. But, if we say things like, “I don’t think this healing stuff really works,” then we can’t expect to be healed.

You might be thinking, “Well, Janean, I knew someone who was believing God to heal them and it didn’t happen. If God heals, then why didn’t He heal them?” I’m not going to pretend to be all-knowing on the subject. I’m definitely not God. However, I do know the Scriptures say healing is God’s will. There are many possible reasons why someone’s healing did not manifest. Here’s just one example: it takes time and effort to get into the Word and meditate on it for faith to arise in our hearts. We can say scriptures until we are blue in the face, but if we haven’t spent enough time in the Word and we haven’t developed much faith in what we are saying, then it is a futile effort. That is why it is important to always be in the Word of God and be thinking on scripture each and every day. Of course, there are many other reasons why folks don’t receive their healing; that is just one example. One thing I do know for sure- God is the Healer. If we are not healed, the problem is not with Him. God’s Word is true, and if we want to see it work for us, it is up to us to put in the effort to develop faith in that Word.

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17 (KJV)

In this verse the word hearing actually means hearing, and hearing, and hearing- it is a continual thing. So, if we are continually speaking the Word, listening to anointed teaching of the Word, etc., then faith will come. And that is how it works to receive faith for our healing. We must expose ourselves constantly to scriptures on healing.

To help you with this, we have created healing scripture cards that can be printed, clipped, and posted around your house. Just go to the menu and select the “Believe It & Say It” link. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's. Psalm 103:2-5 (KJV)- emphasis mine
