Ways To Worship
The Bible describes many ways for us to express our love for God in praise and worship. I am including a simple list, along with scripture references, for you to use for further study. As you note the various qualities and expressions of worship, incorporate them in your own worship.
- From a born again heart. John 3:3, John 4:23-24
- From a clean heart. Psalm 51:10
- With a song/ singing. Psalm 40:3, Psalm 95:1, Psalm 96:1, Colossians 3:16
- With lifted hands. Psalm 141:2, I Timothy 2:8, Nehemiah 8:6
- With dancing. II Samuel 6:14, Psalm 150:4
- Kneeling. Psalm 95:6, Mark 1:40, Ephesians 3:14
- Bowing down. Psalm 95:6, Nehemiah 8:6
- Laying prostrate. I Kings 18:39, II Chronicles 20:18, Revelation 11:16
- With a shout. Psalm 47:1, Psalm 35:27
- With your voice/ proclaiming your worship. Revelation 4:8-11, Revelation 5:13
- On musical intruments. I Chronicles 23:5, I Chronicles 9:29
- With your spirit/by the Spirit (in tongues). I Corinthians 14:13-18, I Corinthians 14:5, I Corinthians 14:39
- Sing in the Spirit. I Corinthians 14:15
- Bless with the Spirit. I Cointhians 14:16
- Give thanks well. I Corinthians 14:17
- With your giving. Luke 6:38, Philippians 4:18
- As a lifestyle. Psalm 34:1, Romans 12:2
- By living right. Psalm 51:19, Psalm 132:9
- Unending, continual. Revelation 5:12-14
- With extravagance, from a heart of love. Matthew 26:7, Mark 14:3, Luke 7:37
You can see that worship includes both a heart attitude and physical expression. It originates inside and is expressed outwardly. Worship involves the whole man: spirit, soul and body.
