Ways To Worship

The Bible describes many ways for us to express our love for God in praise and worship.  I am including a simple list, along with scripture references, for you to use for further study.  As you note the various qualities and expressions of worship, incorporate them in your own worship.

  • From a born again heart. John 3:3, John 4:23-24
  • From a clean heart. Psalm 51:10
  • With a song/ singing. Psalm 40:3, Psalm 95:1, Psalm 96:1, Colossians 3:16
  • With lifted hands. Psalm 141:2, I Timothy 2:8, Nehemiah 8:6
  • With dancing. II Samuel 6:14, Psalm 150:4
  • Kneeling. Psalm 95:6, Mark 1:40, Ephesians 3:14
  • Bowing down.  Psalm 95:6, Nehemiah 8:6
  • Laying prostrate. I Kings 18:39, II Chronicles 20:18, Revelation 11:16
  • With a shout. Psalm 47:1, Psalm 35:27
  • With your voice/ proclaiming your worship. Revelation 4:8-11, Revelation 5:13
  • On musical intruments. I Chronicles 23:5, I Chronicles 9:29
  • With your spirit/by the Spirit (in tongues). I Corinthians 14:13-18, I Corinthians 14:5, I Corinthians 14:39
    • Sing in the Spirit. I Corinthians 14:15
    • Bless with the Spirit. I Cointhians 14:16
    • Give thanks well. I Corinthians 14:17

  • As a lifestyle. Psalm 34:1, Romans 12:2
  • By living right. Psalm 51:19, Psalm 132:9
  • Unending, continual. Revelation 5:12-14
  • With extravagance, from a heart of love. Matthew 26:7, Mark 14:3, Luke 7:37

You can see that worship includes both a heart attitude and physical expression.  It originates inside and is expressed outwardly.  Worship involves the whole man: spirit, soul and body.
