The Word is Supreme
In order to have faith that works, you must settle in your heart once and for all your opinion of the Word of God. Do you believe it is the supreme authority? Do you believe it is 100% true or do you choose only to believe certain portions?
Psalm 119:89 (AMPC) says:
Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven [stands firm as the heavens].
Psalm 119:160 (AMPC) states:
The sum of Your word is truth [the total of the full meaning of all Your individual precepts]; and every one of Your righteous decrees endures forever.
Isaiah 40:8 (NKJV):
The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.
The Word is unchanging and enduring. It was before time and will continue beyond the end of time into eternity. John 1:1 (AMPC) bears this out.
In the beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself.
The entirety of the Word is to be trusted and used to guide our lives.
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. II Timothy 3:16 (KJV)
For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Hebrews 4:12 (New Living Translation- NLT).
Psalm 119:105 (NKJV) says:
Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.
The Passion Translation (TPT) says it like this:
Truth’s shining light guides me in my choices and decisions; the revelation of your word makes my pathway clear.
The Word is to guide, lead and direct us. We should turn to it in our decision-making. It should examine our motives. We should view the world through the lens of God's Word. And finally, we must understand that we cannot have faith without it.
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17 (KJV).
The New International Version (NIV) says it this way:
Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.
The Word is true. The Word is real. The Word is alive. The Word is a person: Jesus. It is settled in heaven. Let it be settled for you.
