Trump the Enemy

The devil is the father of lies.  What card has he been pulling on you to attempt to deceive and discourage you?

  • The "You've made too many mistakes" card?
  • The "You can't break free from your past" card?
  • The "You don't have enough education" card?
  • The "You don't know anyone who can help you" card?
  • The "You're too old" card?
  • The "You're too young" card?
  • The "You don't have enough money" card?

The reassuring thing about the lies of the devil is that we know that the truth is the opposite of what he says.  So, we can trump his card with the Jesus card.  Jesus took all our mistakes and shortcomings and turned them into miracles.

  • For a bad past, we know that Jesus gives us a good future (Jeremiah 29:11).
  • For a lack of education, Jesus has been made our wisdom (I Corinthians 1:30).
  • For the "You don't know anyone who can help" card, remember that you know Jesus- the King of kings, the Maker of Heaven and Earth, the Lord God Almighty.  And if you know Him, He can move heaven and earth to place you where He wants you.
  • If the enemy says you're too old, the Lord says your latter end shall be better than your former (Haggai 2:9).
  • If you believe you're too young, remember David, who, as a youth, killed a giant with just a sling and a stone.  And throughout history, most revivals started with the younger generation.
  • For the "You don't have enough money card," you can trump him with "my God shall supply all my need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.(Philippians 4:19).

So, the next time the devil pulls one of his lying cards on you, pull the Jesus card on him.  Remind him that Jesus defeated him and took away the keys to death, hell, and the grave.  And remind him that his future is very, very bleak- all of eternity spent in the Lake of Fire.  That'll shut him up for a while.
