The Heart of a Believer

I was doing a study on the heart of a believer and came up with a list of adjectives describing the kind of heart each of us should have.  I thought I would share my list with you for your own Bible study and meditation.  I have listed each descriptor and scripture to support it.

  1. A born-again heart.  To have a rght heart, salvation is where it must begin.  John 3:3 (KJV)
  2. A happy heart.  Life is too short to be miserable.  Proverbs 15:13 (NIV)
  3. A discerning heart.  The discerning heart seeks knowledge.  Proverbs 15:14 (NIV)
  4. A pure heart.  The pure in heart shall see God.  Matthew 5:8 (KJV)
  5. A wise heart.  Proverbs 2:10 (KJV)
  6. A thankful heart.  Colossians 3:16 (KJV), I Thessalonians 5:18 (KJV)
  7. A heart to love God.  Matthew 22:37 (KJV), Deuteronomy 30:6, 10 (KJV)
  8. A giving heart.  Luke 6:38 (KJV)
  9. A forgiving heart.  Mark 11:25-26 (KJV), Colossians 3:13 (KJV)

It is my hope that this will serve as a springboard for you to dig deeper in the Word to learn more about what it says about the heart.  God looks on the thoughts and intents of the heart, so it is important for us to regularly check our own heart's condition and make adjustments where needed.
