So the Lord blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning. Job 42:12 (KJV)

Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase. Job 8:7 (KJV)

And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall overflow with wine and oil. And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you. And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed. Joel 2:24-26 (KJV)

God’s heart is to give, not to take away. He is the original Giver, and He enjoys sending blessing and increase into our lives. These verses and many others demonstrate that God’s plan is for us to continually increase. Our lives should be getting better and better.

When you think of the future, what do you see? Do you see gloom, doom, lack? Do you envision your latter years as years of loneliness, poverty, and sickness? If you are in Christ, your outlook should be bright. God has good plans for us and we have nothing to fear. Our hearts are to be full of expectation and hope. God is not in the business of disappointing His children. He is the Way Maker, the Dream Fulfiller, and the Promise Keeper. Things are always looking up for believers. We can look ahead with confidence, gladness, and excitement.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 (New International Version, NIV)

We do not need to be like the unbelievers who have no hope. God has plans of good for us, but some people, even some believers, are always expecting calamity and disaster. We need to reject such thoughts, because those thoughts lead to negative words coming out of our mouths. And whatever we believe and speak, that is what we receive. Therefore, we must guard our thoughts and words and be mindful not to short-circuit the amazing future God has for us. When you consider your future, have Proverbs 4:18 in mind.

The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day. Proverbs 4:18 (New International Version, NIV)

The world might be getting darker and darker, but in your life the Light keeps shining brighter and brighter. The glory of the Lord fills our future. Be in earnest anticipation of what is coming. Child of God, the days ahead of you are so bright you might need sunglasses! Hallelujah!
