Freedom to Choose to be Free
Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. John 8:36 (NKJV)
God has given us choices, and the choices we make have a lot to do with how our lives turn out. We choose what we will be in any given situation. We choose to be:
Happy or sad,
Glad or angry,
Peaceful or stressed,
Free or enslaved.
No matter who we are or what we have done, God loves us, my friends. Therefore, we do not have to be in bondage to anyone or anything. We can be free from bad relationships, strong addictions, recurring habits, mental strongholds, or bad behavior patterns. How? By choosing to accept God’s love. God is extending His love to us all the time. When we choose to receive His love for ourselves, we are set free.
The love of God will set us free from wrong beliefs. And when we choose to believe the right things, namely that God loves us, then our thinking becomes right. We are set free in our believing, and then we are set free in our thinking. That, in turn, sets us free to be ourselves; the people God made us to be.
For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. Proverbs 23:7 (NKJV)
We can choose God’s love, which makes us satisfied, fulfilled and complete. As a result, any addiction loses its power over us. It is when we truly believe and accept the overwhelming, transforming, boundless love of Jesus Christ that we become free indeed.
