The Giver is the Gift

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. James 1:17 (New International Version, NIV)

Our Father God is the gift Giver- the greatest Giver. As He gives good gifts to us, we need to keep our focus on the Giver more than the gifts. We are to love God because He is God- not because of what He can give us or do for us. We must seek God for who He is. I have heard Joyce Meyer say that if we seek God’s face instead of His hand, then His hand will always be open to us.

God gives only good gifts, like love, salvation, provision- and even His very own Son. Every gift He gives us fits and never has to be returned or exchanged. But never forget that the Giver is greater and more to be desired than the gifts, no matter how good they are. As we seek Him, He releases freely all we need. And He gives us the most wonderful gift of all- Himself. He is truly the gift that keeps on giving.

He is the gift we will never tire of. He is always fresh and alive, and He is continually unveiling and revealing to us His unending characteristics. The more we see of Him, the more we want to see. So remember to thank God not just for the gifts He gives, but for Who He is to us- EVERYTHING.
