Once Is Enough

Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself. Hebrews 7:27 (KJV) emphasis mine

Have you ever thought of something you did in the past and regretted it? Of course, we all have. You may feel you have paid for years for past sins, but the good news is that Jesus paid once for all sins- including yours. This means we don’t have to keep paying for the sins of the past. Of course, choices do have consequences and there are some things we cannot change. However, if we give God our scrambled up past, He can take it and turn it around so things end up better than if it never happened.

What I’m trying to say is that we need to stop trying to pay for sins Jesus already paid for. He paid the sin debt for us. He is our get out of jail free card. His payment is free for us although it cost Him everything. So, we must stop living in the shadow of past sins and simply show Jesus we are thankful for what He did for us. Jesus paid for our sins once, so we don’t have to keep paying for them for the rest of our lives. We are free to move on from them. God forgave us, and we can forgive ourselves.

Hebrews 8:12 and Hebrews 10:17 both say: “And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.” This means you and I can live a life free of the debt of sin- all because the debt’s already been paid. Once is enough.

By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Hebrews 10:10 (KJV)
