The Wisdom of God

Proverbs 4:7 says that wisdom is the principle, the supreme, the chief thing to get. It is to be first in importance. Without wisdom, we won’t live right because we won’t make sound decisions.

When we don’t know what to do, we should do three things:

  • Ask God for wisdom.

  • Get in the Word.

  • Pray in tongues.

James 1:5 says that God gives wisdom to us if we ask. According to I Corinthians 14:2, when we pray in tongues we can tap into the supernatural wisdom of God. And God’s Word brings light, revelation, and wisdom.

For it is not from man that we draw our life but from God as we are being joined to Jesus, the Anointed One. And now he is our God-given wisdom, our virtue, our holiness, and our redemption. I Corinthians 1:30 (The Passion Translation, TPT)

Jesus is our example and source of all godly wisdom. God does not want us to keep making wrong choices that could cost us time, finances, relationships, health, and a whole lot of heartache. He wants us to be wise and walk in wisdom, seeing things through His eyes.

For example, that rude neighbor that never wants to be friendly. Instead of being offended, wisdom tells you that they have wounds that you don’t know about so just pray for them.

Using wisdom also helps us to make difficult choices today that we will be pleased with later. Wisdom can give us the vision to see the long-term effects of our decisions, letting us know that it will be worth it in the long run. God’s wisdom will tell us what to do, how to do it, and when to do it. God’s wisdom can make us smarter than we really are. Why? Because God is smarter than we are, and when we walk in His wisdom, we tap into His mind. It’s supernatural. His wisdom will lead us to victory.

Wisdom will protect you and keep you from making mistakes that could cause you and your loved ones harm. Wisdom will watch over and guard you.

Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee Proverbs 2:11 (KJV)

The New Living Translation says it like this:

Wise choices will watch over you. Understanding will keep you safe. Proverbs 2:11 (NLT)

God’s Word is His wisdom. When we know and obey the Word we walk in the wisdom of God, receiving a life of protection, provision, and promotion. When the storms of life come, we will stand firm because we’ve built our lives on the rock of God’s wisdom, His Word.
