How God Heals- Part 3
Today we conclude our discussion on how God heals. Let’s dive right into it.
God heals through the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. I Corinthians 12:4-11 (KJV) emphasis mine
I have personally seen all nine of these gifts in operation at various times. As we cooperate with the Holy Spirit, He manifests the gifts as He sees fit. Obviously the best gift is the one a person needs at that time. I could go into more detail about these gifts, but that is another teaching. For our current discussion, we need to note that God manifests the gifts of healing and working of miracles through the Holy Spirit. These gifts are received by faith. As we cooperate with the Holy Spirit in times of worship and praying in tongues, He will manifest the operation of gifts, such as healing or miracles. The Holy Spirit is the person of the Godhead that is present on the earth today, and it is His working that brings the healing. You can read the Gospels to see Jesus operate in all the gifts, and the book of Acts tells of these gifts in operation as well. These gifts are for today and they are available to us- including the gifts of healing.
Healing comes through the name of Jesus.
Sickness cannot stand up to the name of Jesus. It is the Name above all names, and all other names must submit to the authority in that Name. As we speak the name of Jesus, we take authority over sickness and every kind of demonic influence in our lives.
And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen. Mark 16:17—20 (KJV)
Jesus has given us the legal use of His Name to exercise His authority in the earth and enforce the victory He purchased for us. If we don’t use the Name and the authority in that Name, we fail to walk in victory. Why? Because Jesus gave us His Name for the express purpose of ruling and reigning in life over the devil and everything he brings, such as sickness, poverty, fear, stress, etc. God expects us to use His Name. When we pray and decree something in the name of Jesus, it is the same as Jesus Himself speaking. Jesus is in heaven now and He expects His body to do the works that he did in the earth- through the authority in His Name and by the power of the Holy Spirit. And that includes healing. So when we speak to our bodies in the name of Jesus and command them to be made whole, we have the authority of the Name to back it up.
Well, that wraps up our series on healing. If you are dealing with sickness or injury, take the time to review this series and begin to implement what you have learned. Of course, we are not against going to doctors when it is needed, but always remember that although doctors can treat us, Jesus is the One Who does the healing.
