The Midnight Hour
We all deal with difficulties; financial setbacks, sickness, unsaved family members; longterm issues that seem to have no end. During these times, we must remember what God has said and done for us personally. God is a personal God Who is interested in each of us individually. For every problem, God has a promise. For our questions, God has answers and is the answer.
I’ve faced my share of midnight hours and I’m sure you have too. It’s that darkest time of the night, the time when everything looks hopeless.
Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning Psalm 30:5b (KJV)
This tells us that what we face or go through will not last forever. With joy in God, we can outlast the problem to get to the breakthrough. We must not give up when we are hit the hardest, right before we see the answers to our prayers. We need to continue to sow even if things get worse, because our seed declares our faith in a harvest. So, in the midnight hour keep praying, singing, giving, loving, and believing, and God will bring a breakthrough.
When we are knocked down in the middle of the battle, we cannot stay down, but we must fight back. Having done all to stand, stand therefore. Stand in who God is. Stand in who you are in Christ. Stand and see the salvation of the Lord.
And let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right, for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint. Galatians 6:9 (Amplified Bible Classic Edition, AMPC)
Christ has already won the victory, and our breakthrough is guaranteed if we refuse to give up.
In Acts 16, Paul and Silas were bound in chains and shackles in prison, their bodies filled with pain from the brutal beating they received. Instead of wallowing in self-pity and wondering why God let this happen to them, at midnight they chose to praise God in song. God shook the foundations of the jail, all of the prisoners’ chains fell off and all the prison doors flew open. That is how our breakthrough looks: God will shake things up and shake the problem right off of us. He’s about to shake off your debt, shake off your pressure, shake off your sickness! The chains will fall and there will be no more stress, lack, or pain! Prison doors are swinging open and you will walk out of the prison that has held you captive. You are free!
Midnight declares that the long night is over. God has given you a new day, a brighter day, a day of victory. Breakthrough is at hand; what you’ve waited for has arrived. As we pray, sing and praise God in the midst of trouble, we will see God as the God of the breakthrough- the One who comes through for us every time.
