Speak To The Mountain

22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. 23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. 24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. Mark 11:22-24 (KJV)

Jesus is telling us in this passage that when we come up against a mountain, or a problem, we are to speak to it and not about it. The more we speak about a problem, the bigger it gets and the more power it has over us and our lives.

We must believe that God is bigger than any problem. We are not to let the mountains in our lives defeat us, but we are to say what Caleb said, “Give me that mountain.” (Joshua 14:12) He believed that God enabled him to conquer it and that the Greater One was in him. We need to be bold and believe that we can conquer our mountains as well.

Jesus told us how to overcome. In verse 22, He said to have faith in God. A more accurate translation of that verse would be, “Have the God kind of faith.” In verse 23, Jesus tells us how to use God’s faith. In this verse, three times Jesus mentions speaking and mentions believing only one time. Why? Because our believing is directly connected to our saying. The more we say something, the more we will believe it and act on it. As we speak, we are releasing our faith- speaking God’s words and not the devils’ words. As we speak God’s Word over the situation, God will move mountains by His Spirit. (Zechariah 4:16).

Jesus goes on to say that if we believe that what we say shall come to pass, we will have whatever we say. Believing what we speak is the key for it to come to pass. The answers we need are right under our noses- in our mouths!

But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; Romans 10:8 (KJV)

Hear God’s Word. Believe it, say it, and watch that mountain move!
