In Step With God

This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. Galatians 5:16 (KJV)

According to Rick Renner’s Sparkling Gems of the Greek, the Greek word for walk in this verse means to stroll, or to leisurely walk. Think of taking a nice stroll with a spouse or friend. You don’t rush, but you walk at a comfortable pace in order to enjoy the walk. The purpose of a stroll is to enjoy the trip and not merely to get to a certain destination. This means that when we walk in the Spirit we walk in step with Him- not in a hurry nor lagging behind. It means that we are not full of anxiety, but we are at peace, enjoying the journey. We are calm, knowing that God is walking with us, directing our every step.

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. Psalm 37:23 (KJV)

We are strolling along with Jesus. We are enjoying the journey one step at a time, one day at a time. We know the Lord is taking us where He wants us to go. We know we are in perfect step with His perfect timing for our lives.

I once got a simple, but profound prophetic word: “Keep taking steps.” That is what He wants us all to do- keep taking steps. Keeping walking with Him, strolling along light, happy and free. You will be amazed at where He takes you and how much fun and enjoyment you’ll have along the way.
