God's Plan of Restoration
And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you. Joel 2:25 (KJV)
No matter what has been eaten away in your life by the enemy, God can and will make it up and pay you back, giving you more than what was lost. God will so bless you that you will never be put to shame, as verses 26 and 27 go on to say.
And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed. And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the Lord your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed. Joel 2:26-27 (KJV)
The word restore in Hebrew means to make whole or good, to make completed, pay, to make good, to reward, to make peace. It obviously means more than just getting back what was taken. It means that there is an increase in what you get back- more than before. God will make a full end of your restoration in which nothing is missing or broken. It means perfect and complete wholeness and abundance in every area of your life.
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 (New International Version, NIV)
When we speak of restoration, it might bring to mind a classic car that someone has lovingly restored to its original condition. However, God’s plan is to restore to you all that was taken, and then some, making it better than before. He will make it better than ever- better than if it had never happened.
Rejoice! Don’t mourn and lament what has been taken from you. God’s plan for you means complete restoration. And when He is done, there will be no trace of evidence that there was ever a devil or sin or any trouble of any kind. That’s the kind of restoration that is ours!
