God Our Vindicator- Part 2

Let’s pick up our discussion from yesterday about God as our Vindicator. Jesus Himself had to trust God to be His Vindicator.

To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. “He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth.” When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly. I Peter 2:21-23 (New International Version, NIV)

Jesus knew His heavenly Father was the Judge Who is just and judges righteously. In all Jesus suffered, He did not fight back in the flesh. He suffered in faith and stood firm in the spirit. He understood that when man is unjust, God is just. Jesus was insulted and degraded more than any man had ever been before or will ever be, yet He kept His mouth shut. He suffered silently to save us. He committed Himself to God and then He died. When He did, He left the results in God’s hands.

And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross! Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name. Philippians 2:8-9 (New International Version, NIV)

Jesus had to trust that God was just and that He would rescue Him from hell. He was obedient to the Lord, even to the point of death and separation from God. But God vindicated Him by raising Him up and seating Him at His right hand- a place of honor, power, and authority. All enemies have been put under His feet and His name is exalted above all names. All knees will bow and every tongue will confess that He is Lord. That’s a far cry from being mocked and executed naked on a cross as a lowly criminal. God vindicated Jesus, and He will vindicate us.

Let’s follow Jesus’ example. When we are done wrong, when our situation is unfair, when we have been betrayed or used, we must commit it to God. God makes every wrong right because He is our Vindicator.

And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. Luke 18:7-8 (New International Version, NIV)
