Rejoice By Choice

If you are not having a good day, you can make it a good day. How? By choice.

This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24 (KJV)

When things go wrong, we can respond with a right attitude; an attitude of gratitude to God. We can choose to look at what we have and not at what has been lost. We can rejoice by choice. If you think about it, even if we lost everything, if we still have God, we have everything we need.

When we are having a rough day, we need to remember that God is good and will do us good. He has a way to work things out for our good. God is good, therefore He is not capable of anything but goodness. He’s out to help us, not hurt us.

We are to rejoice in whatever we do, regardless of our feelings, because we can do so with God’s help.

Nothing is better for a man than that he should eat and drink, and that his soul should enjoy good in his labor. This also, I saw, was from the hand of God. Ecclesiastes 2:24 (NKJV)

King Solomon states that there is nothing better for us than to enjoy our work. If we want things to get better then we must take control over our souls (mind, will and emotions) and choose to have a good day. How? By enjoying what we do. Even if we’re in a job that we aren’t too fond of, we can still enjoy it by faith. We can decide to enjoy it. By this you rule your day and your day does not rule you. I once read a quote by Charles Swindoll that says “Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.” We may not be able to choose everything that happens to us, but we can choose our response. Even if our day seems to be a lousy one, we can choose to have a good one by our response to it.

Make the choice to rejoice and take command of your day.
