Jesus, The Healer of Broken Hearts

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised. Luke 4:18 (KJV) emphasis mine

Jesus is the Healer of broken hearts. As we pour out our brokenness before the Lord, He will heal our hearts. Jesus understands our hurts when we don’t. As a matter of fact, we don’t need to understand our hurts; we just need to give them to Jesus. He’s the only One who can heal us. Jesus can and will heal us when we give Him all our pain. No matter how long we’ve been hurting or how deep the pain, He knows how to heal us and put us back together again.

He understands show we feel and He hurts with us. When we cry, Jesus cries. Jesus wept at the tomb of His friend Lazarus, who had died, but He didn’t leave Lazarus in that condition. He called Him forth out of the tomb and Lazarus arose from the dead (John 11:34-44). In the same way, Jesus won’t leave us in our hurting condition. He knows what it takes to bring healing, and He does what it takes to meet us where we are. He’s the Healer that has hurt, and He knows how to heal us and lead us back to wholeness.

When we let Jesus love us, we are letting Jesus heal us. People just want to be loved, and the feeling of not being loved brings pain. No one can love like Jesus because Jesus is love (I John 4:8). As we receive Jesus, we receive love. We can have a fresh filling of His love everyday to wash away the daily cares and the pain that tries to take root in our lives. As we come to Him daily, we can rest in His love, being made whole in Him.
