Under His Wings

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Psalm 91:1-4 (KJV)

Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah. Psalm 32:7 (KJV)

The Bible speaks of the secret place. It also calls God our hiding place. What does this mean?

God is our Protector. When the world is going crazy and danger lurks around every corner, we can run to the Lord, who is our stronghold and the only safe place to hide. God is a supernatual God, so even in the midst of very real physical danger, God can create a barrier of protection around us. I have heard many stories of people who have been car accidents, hurricanes, tornadoes, etc. that walked away without harm. Often these people testify that they felt something holding them in their seat or lifting them out of danger. It is in horrific situations like these, we can rely on the Lord to be our Shelter, our Hiding Place.

We can also rely on our Lord to be our protection when we are being persecuted and treated unjustly. When our hearts and emotions are on the line, God is our fortress and protection.

How do you access the Hiding Place, the Secret Place? Its very simple.

The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe. Proverbs 18:10 (KJV)

The name of the Lord is how we get in. In some emergency situations, we may not even have enough time to do more than yell, speak, whisper, or even just think the name of Jesus. And that is enough.

For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy. I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah. Psalm 61:3-4 (KJV)

Trust the Lord to protect you and be with you. And when you need help, call on Him and He will shelter you under His wings.
