Mercy Rewrote My Life
There’s an old song called Mercy Rewrote My Life. Some of the lyrics go like this:
I traveled a road all wrong. My heart had lost its joy and song. Then grace placed me right where I belong, When Mercy rewrote my life.
These words hit home with me, because, like many people, the devil did everything he could to wreck my life. I was born premature and wasn’t supposed to survive- but I did. I had difficulty learning in school- but I now have my doctorate. I got involved in drugs as a teenager and almost overdosed- but God delivered me. Because of drugs, my brain was severely damaged- but I relearned how to think and speak. I was nearly killed in car accidents- but God spared my life. I suffered through the end of two marriages because of heartbreaking betrayal- but I recently celebrated 25 years of marriage with a caring, godly woman. You can see that Mercy rewrote my life every step of the way.
I have been saved more than 40 years and God has so blessed me. I am thankful for my relationship with the Lord and the knowledge of the Word that He has given me. The greatest treasure I have is the Word of God that has been deposited in me over the years. I am thankful for a heart of worship that draws me and inspires me to Worship the Lord. I am grateful for the gifts He has placed in me to speak and sing His Word.
I almost missed Jesus and the life He had for me. I could have missed out on the eternity He has for me with Him. What a tragedy it would have been. What a waste of a life it would have been to pass through this world without knowing the One I was created to be in relationship with. I urge you: don’t miss heaven due to the desire for worldy pleasures. They will pass away in a moment. All that is eternal is a relationship with Jesus Christ. This world will soon pass, but a life built on Christ will last. Receive Jesus as your Savior and let Mercy rewrite your life.
