Power of Attorney
You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it! John 14:13-14 (New Living Translation, NLT)
As believers in Christ, we have a right to use Jesus’ name to pray and command things, and they will be done the same as if Jesus Himself said it. Jesus gave us His name to use. It is the same as someone who has been given the power of attorney on someone else’s behalf.
Power of attorney is when one person has the legal right to act in another person’s place. If I have power of attorney for someone, anyone dealing with me legally must treat me as if they are doing business with the person I represent. In a legal sense, I take on their identity. The same is true of believers. We have the legal right to use the name of Jesus and when we do, we are treated as if we were Jesus Himself. When we pray in Jesus’ name, the Father responds as if Jesus were praying to Him Himself. When we take authority over the enemy in Jesus’ name, the devil must act as if Jesus Himself is commanding him.
If you’ve never been taught about your rights as a child of God, what I am saying may seem extreme- maybe even blasphemous. However, Jesus Himself told us that we would do the works He did and even greater works (John 14:12). Jesus expects us to act like Him and to expect the same results as Him. He has given us His authority and Name. We are to take His place and have dominion, promoting and expanding the Kingdom of God in the earth.
I tell you the truth, you will ask the Father directly, and he will grant your request because you use my name. You haven’t done this before. Ask, using my name, and you will receive, and you will have abundant joy. John 16:23-24 (New Living Translation, NLT)
You have the blood-bought right to use the name of Jesus. So, go ahead, exercise your power of attorney!
