Great Is Thy Faithfulness

Lamentations 3:22-23 (KJV) says:

22 It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

The word mercies is the Hebrew word chesed. It is used in the Old Testament 149 times and its basic meaning is outgoing love. It almost always refers to the mercy of God towards His covenant people Israel. Essentially, it is the covenant love of God.

Because of the sacrifice of Jesus, we are the beneficiaries of a new covenant with God. Therefore, we can expect that same covenant love from God that Israel has experienced.

That covenant of love guarantees protection, provision, healing, peace, victory over the enemy, and so much more.

And the beautiful thing about God’s mercies is that they are never exhausted. As a matter of fact, they are renewed day by day. You cannot use up all of the Lord’s love for you. That is why verse 23 exclaims, “Great is thy faithfulness!” His love is the absolute best thing about starting each day- even better than coffee!

Today, as you go about your business, meditate on the faithfulness of God. Because of His faithful love, we are not consumed by the enemy. His mercies are never-ending and they come directly from the heart of God. Hallelujah!
