The Flavor of Favor- It Tastes So Good!

And I will give this people favor in the sight of the Egyptians; and it shall be, when you go, that you shall not go empty-handed. Exodus 3:21 (NKJV)

For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; With favor You will surround him as with a shield. Psalm 5:12 (NKJV)

It is God’s desire to give His people favor. What is favor? You might say that favor is the blessing of God in action. It causes people to do things for you that they wouldn’t normally do for most people. It provides preferential treatment and opens doors that no man can shut.

Favor does not mean that there will be no trials or challenges. But it does mean that we can be assured that God’s favor will work the situation out for our good and will cause us to rise above the circumstances.

I’ve heard it said, “Favor ain’t fair” and I guess, to the unbeliever, it might seem unfair. However, our God is a just God, and His justice provides special treatment for those who follow Him. Anyone who is a child of God can trust God for favor and can experience it every day. Favor does not have to be a hit and miss thing. It can be a way of life.

Because we are the righteousness of God in Christ, we can expect Him to treat us with favor and cause others to shower us with favor. It may mean that someone offers us a coupon for our purchase that we didn’t know about. I may cause a restaurant to give us the best seating and the best service. It makes us the head and not the tail.

While favor is good, always remember that favor is not something we wear haughtily or pridefully. We may experience excellent service at the auto mechanic’s garage, but that does not mean we go in and expect a discount or demand special privileges. Favor comes when God bestows it, not when we demand it. Favor is in operation when we believe for it and when we walk in humility.

Favor is something that we don’t grow tired of. It is as good the hundredth time we experience it as it was the first time. It is always wonderful to see how God will do things to bring favor to our lives each and every day. He loves to bless us with favor- and it is marvelous. The flavor of favor- it tastes sooooo good!
