A Lifelong Love Affair

With a name like “A Deeper Word,” I often wonder if people understand the motive behind this website. We don’t claim to have a deeper revelation of the Bible than other people or to have some special knowledge of the Word. The purpose of this site is to encourage all born-again believers to pursue a deeper understanding of the truth of God’s Word, to dig deeper and avoid living a superficial Christian life.

When we take time to really read and study the Scriptures, they come to life and they create a radical transformation in us. When we have received the real revelation of a certain truth from the Word, we can act on that and see our lives change in that area. Daily pursuit of the Word of God makes it impossible for us to stay “stuck” for long.

When people get saved and later wonder why they haven’t seen anything change in their lives, it usually is tied directly to spending little or no time in the Word of God. We can’t change ourselves through our own efforts, but we also cannot sit around and expect God to wave a magic wand and change us. Change comes from God, and He usually uses the Word of God as a conduit for that change.

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Romans 12:2 (New Living Translation, NLT)

If we really desire change and growth in our lives; if we really want to please God and understand His will, we will devote time to studying His Word. His Word is His will.

And this website is here to encourage you to study the Word, to prompt you to think on the truths in the Word, and to lead you in the study of various topics and themes found within the pages of the Bible. It is our hope that by reading and meditating on our daily posts, you will be encouraged, built up, and educated about the Bible so you develop a lifelong love affair with the living Word of God.
