Ridiculous!
Isn’t it amazing what God did throughout the pages of Scripture? The Bible tells of events and actions so supernatural and awesome that they appear to be ridiculous to the world. And that is exactly how God likes it.
Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? I Corinthians 1:20 (KJV)
Who else but God would save a nation by using only 300 hundred men armed with water pitchers and torches? Who else would bring millions of people out of slavery by leading them to a dead end so He could create a highway through the sea? Who else would cure leprosy by making someone submerge himself in dirty river water? Who would use a grubby little shepherd boy to rule a nation? Who else would instruct a man to build a boat at least 100 years before a worldwide flood would happen? Who else would give a man superhuman strength simply through the locks of his hair? Who else would cause massive stone walls to come tumbling down with a shout? Who else but our God would cause a virgin to become pregnant with the Son of God? And who else would die for the sins of the world and raise again but our God?
Yes, our God is a ridiculous God. With Him axe heads float, the dead are raised, bread is multiplied, and blind people see. He is the God of the impossible and the illogical. He is amazing, wonderful, spectacular and marvelous. So, then, why do we have such a hard time believing He will come through in our own lives? Shouldn’t the pages of the Bible be proof enough that He is faithful? Shouldn’t we see from the Word of God that He is more than able?
Today, I challenge you to get in the Word and zero in on one of the supernatural, amazing accounts in there. There are many to choose from: the unlikely triumph of Gideon, the battle of Jericho, the raising of Lazarus, etc. Meditate just on that particular situation and how God came through in a totally ridiculous way. You may spend several hours or maybe even several days thinking just on this one event. After you spend some time doing this, faith will arise in your heart, and you will experience the God of the ridiculous doing ridiculously awesome things in you and your life.
