But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him. And if they were all one member, where were the body? But now are they many members, yet but one body. I Corinthians 12:18-20 (KJV)

It’s been said a lot, so most of us have probably heard the acronym T.E.A.M.= Together Everyone Achieves More. It’s been used a lot, but maybe because it is such a true sentiment. And that is why it’s important to be part of a local church body. Let’s break down T.E.A.M.

T: Together

Togetherness is a human need. We were designed to be together with others- every person has a desire to belong and fit in. When we find our church home and can contribute with our talents and abilities, we are definitely better than if we were on our own.

E: Everyone

Everyone is important and is needed by the rest of the body of Christ. We all have something to bring to the table. And while we are each individuals, our actions affect the entire body- when one sins, it affects the rest, and when one does well, it supports and edifies the body. Together, everyone is necessary to bring the plans of God to pass.

A: Achieves

When we combine forces, we increase our ability to achieve great things for God. While we are each unqiue with our own gifts, when we all bring our individual talents to the church, it creates great synergy- a symphony of abilities. Consider all the different personailities, skills, giftings, experiences, and knowledge coming together, being woven into a beautiful garment for the King. We can accept and learn from one another, knowing that with all these differing traits, we can definitely go farther together than apart.

M: More

The sum is truly greater than its parts. It is basic math that two, three, four, and so on, are greater in number than just one. And when we join together, we are more in number and can do more. If we want more of God and more of an influence in the world, it will only come through the unity of the body. We can work together instead of against one another, becoming more well-rounded people and getting more done.

Truly, as a team, the church can do much for the kingdom of God. Together everyone achieves more!
