Epxressing Our Love to God

The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee. Jeremiah 31:3 (KJV)

Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. Matthew 22:34-40 (KJV)

Because the Lord loves us, we can love Him with all our heart, soul and mind. The other day, I was speaking the Word out loud as a confession, which is part of my daily routine. I felt a love for the Lord well up inside me, and I began to tell God that I love Him, but I felt the words fell short of what I was trying to say. It was like there were no words sufficient to express my love to the Lord. Then the Lord showed me that He sees my heart, and He knows the love I feel for Him.

I believe we can let our love pour out on the Lord from our hearts when words fail us. Of course, this is where worship helps us pour our love out on the Lord. Worship from our hearts helps us show Him how much we love Him. And we can sing and pray in tongues to go even deeper in pouring our love out on Jesus.

For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. I Corinthians 14:2 (KJV)

I like saying something that is bad grammar, but I like it anyway: “Better felt than telt, better experienced than expressed.” We can get so far into the presence of the Lord that words fail us in expressing our love. But, as we pour out our love and worship in tongues, it will get the job done. This is because the Holy Spirit can take us higher, deeper, and further in God than we can go on our own. So, rely on the Holy Spirit’s help when words fail you. Pray and worship in tongues. God understands the language of our hearts.
