The God Who Is

And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you….’ ” This is My name forever, and this is My memorial to all generations.’ Exodus 3:14-15 (NKJV)

God is self-existent. In other words, God is God all by Himself. He needs nothing or no one to exist. He existed before anything or anyone. He existed before time- past, present, or future. God does not need time to exist, but time does need God in order to exist. God made time and He controls time. God can and does step in and out of time when He wants to or deems it necessary. God stepped out of eternity and came into Earth’s time through Jesus Christ, the God-man.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men…. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. John 1:1-4, 14 (NKJV)

God inhabits eternity, for He is eternal. So, even eternity comes from God. God existed in eternity past, exists in eternity present, and will exist in eternity future. God is an eternal spirit (John 4:24) and all things come from, God and are for God (Revelation 4:11).

For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. Colossians 1:16 (NKJV)

God is the Father, Son (Jesus the Word) and Holy Spirit; They are Three in One. They step in and out of each Other as They will.

For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. I John 5:7 (NKJV)

All self-existing Jesus came from the Father and went back to the Father. He now sits on the Father’s throne (Revelation 3:21). Jesus sent Holy Spirit to us. Holy Spirit came from the Father and Son. The Three work together to bring mankind back to God so that we may live and be with God, the great I AM, forvever.
