Moving Forward Through Thanksgiving
O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Psalm 107:1 (KJV)
This Psalm says to give thanks, not complaining, murmuring or being full of ingratitude. We give thanks to the Lord for He is. Then, we give thanks because He is good.
When things go wrong, or you feel down, or you’re having a bad day- begin to get God involved by giving thanks to Him. God will show up and help you to walk in His goodness. Things cannot stay bad forever, because God is good forever.
We can thanks Him for His mercy (His love), which endures forever. It endures forever because God is love and He is eternal. He is called the Eternal One. God will outlast any bad situation or person. Bad times will pass as they’re moved out of the way when God and His goodness show up. As we give thanks to the Lord, we will see God and His goodness in our lives.
Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy. Psalm 107:2 (KJV)
Let the redeemed of the Lord say so. Say what? Say that He is good and His mercy endures forever.
In verses 6, 13, 19, and 28 of Psalm 107, we read that they cried out to God in their troubles and He delivered them out of their distresses. Verses 8, 15, 21, and 31 says “Oh that men would praise the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men.”
The point is, when you go through difficulties, cry out to God with thanksgiving, and He will deliver you. Thus, you will have a new praise for His goodness and for His wonderful works to you. Complaining will only keep us stuck, but thanksgiving and praise will move us forward. The way out is through as you give thanks to the Lord for He is good and His mercy endures forever!
