Believers, Not Beggars
I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. Psalm 37:25 (KJV)
I’ve served God for more than 40 years now, and I must say that God has taken care of me the whole time. He has never forsaken me.
God has called us to be believers, not beggars. When things are tough, we must know that God is our heavenly Father. And we must be aware that He is with us, that He loves us, and He cares for us. Whatever concerns us concerns God and He will perfect it (Psalm 138:8). When a need arises, we aren’t to turn into beggars. We are to rise up and act like the believers we are. Jesus said that signs follow believers. However, beggars follow signs.
And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Mark 16:17-18 (KJV)
In this passage, Jesus gave us authority to have the upper hand- to be above and to be the head. We are created to be on top! We are to reign in life from a heavenly position and perspective. We are seated with Christ in heavenly places, so when a need arises, we don’t have to beg. We ask our Father to meet the need and then, with our authority, we decree it has been met. We don’t beg and act like we are fatherless orphans. We don’t have to beg for anything. By the blood of Jesus, everything we’ll ever need already is ours! Don’t belittle or devalue yourself by begging- you have a wealthy heavenly Father who is pleased to give you what you need. Receive what is yours.
As we were born again, God turned beggars into believers. And we’ll never be beggars again.
