Promotability
“The master was full of praise. ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. Let’s celebrate together!’ Matthew 25:21 (New Living Translation, NLT)
It can be easy to think that God only cares about the big things- the large responsibilites and the notable tasks. However, the Bible tells us that God looks at everything- the big and the small. As a matter of fact, He firsts looks at how we handle the small things before He allows us to do something bigger. In the business world, we usually have to start at the bottom and work our way up. In the Kingdom, we all must prove ourselves faithful in small things in order to progress to bigger and better things for God.
God’s eye is on every part of our lives. He sees how we deal with our family, our co-workers, and what we do when no one else is there to see. If we cannot be honest and forthright in small things, we cannot be trusted with more. If we cannot be trsuted to arrive to work on time, give a full day’s work, and not take cheap shortcuts, how can God allow us to run a company or ministry? We must demonstrate a spirit of excellence in all we do.
Joseph was that kind of person. He had a spirit of excellence and it always caused him to rise to the top wherever he went- in Potiphar’s household, in the dungeons of Egypt’s prison, even in Pharaoh’s palace.
Where are you now? What are you responsible for? Can your boss trust you? Are you reliable and steadfast? Do you do even small, trivial tasks with a high level of quality and commitment? If so, you can expect God to soon promote you to a higher level of responsibility.
