Temples of Praise
Thou which hast kept with thy servant David my father that which thou hast promised him; and spakest with thy mouth, and hast fulfilled it with thine hand, as it is this day. II Chronicles 6:15 (KJV)
This was part of Solomon’s prayer when he dedicated the temple he had built for the Lord. It is telling us that what God has promised us with His mouth, He will bring His Word to pass by His hand. What God speaks, He performs. When God speaks His Word to us; a now word, or rhema word; a word spoken to our hearts, we will see His hand move in our lives. First He speaks a word, then His hand brings it to pass.
It’s like Genesis 1; when God Spoke, the Holy Spirit began to move and Jesus created with the Father. As God speaks His Word, and we get in agreement with Him by speaking the Word He spoke back to Him, His hand begins to move. We may not always see what He is doing right away, because it is often done behind the scenes, but He is working. As we stand in faith and don’t waver from speaking what God has spoken, the working of His hand will become evident.
When God fulfills His promises, we should dedicate our lives back to Him again, as if for the first time. This is because when God works in our lives, things become new again. And as Solomon dedicated the temple, we should rededicate ourselves to the Lord. Remember what God has done in the past, for He is building a new thing; He’s building you and me to be temples of praise. When God works in our lives, He’s building something beautiful and lasting that will stand. Give Him praise for what God has done and will do. Our lives are a testimony to His Word and to His hand. As we stand as a temple of praise, others will come and see the beauty of our God in action. And they will give Him praise for His marvelous works, becoming temples of praise themselves!
