What To Do When You Don't Know What To Do

O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee. II Chronicles 20:12 (KJV)

We all face situations where we just don’t know what to do. Some things are just too puzzling for us to figure out. We’ve been in places where there seem to be more questions than answers, more pain than pleasure, and more cares than comfort. When we face harships, threats, or trouble, the first thing we need to do is put our eyes on Jesus. When we can’t fix something, Jesus can.

Looking at II Chronicles 20, we see that Israel looked to God. Then they heard a word from Him. A word from the Lord cuts through everything and gives direction. The word they got told them that the battle was the Lord’s and they were to be still and see God fight for them. Instead of worrying and wondering, they worshiped and praised God. They believed the prophets and the prophetic word, and God gave them the victory.

Pull out your Bible and look at the entire chapter of II Chronicles 20. From that account, we see that they:

  1. Sought God (Verse 3)

  2. Fasted (Verse 3)

  3. Came together to ask for help (Verse 6)

  4. Prayed (Verses 5-13)

  5. Received a word from God (Verses 14-17)

  6. Acted on the Word (Verses 18-22)

  7. Worshiped and praised (Verses 18-19, 21-22)

  8. Experienced victory and got the spoils (Verses 22-25)

So, when we face trouble, we can do what they did and we’ll obtain the same results. After all, God gives us the Word to instruct and direct us so we can experience victory. When you don’t know what to do, do what the Word tells you to do. God has planned our victory and prosperity before any problem ever arises.
