The Way to Live

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20 (KJV)

In the same way that you couldn’t save yourself, but Christ had to save you, you cannot live for Christ on your own. We have to let Christ live His life through us. To do this we have to first consider ourselves crucified with Christ, meaning our old man, our old way of living and doing things, has been crucified or put to death. We’re dead to sin, hate, unforgiveness, and so on. We let Christ live through us.

When we get hurt, we let Christ heal us. When we can’t love others who hurt and wronged us, we give it to God and let Christ love through us. We allow Christ to love and forgive us and the love He gives us, we can give to others. The life we live in our bodies, especially when we’re weak and hurt, we can live by His faith. When we struggle to believe, we can lean on His faith to believe God for what we need.

Jesus gave Himself for us because He loves us all. Therefore, through Christ we can give all of ourselves to Him- the good, the bad, our hearts, our hopes and dreams, our hurts, our pleasures- everything. Jesus loves us and gave Himself to buy us back and set us free. As a result, we can receive all Jesus is and has done for us. This means we can let Him live His life in and through us. The God who is love lives in us and we can let Him love others through us.

We can’t love the unlovable in our strength. We can’t bless those who curse us in our own strength. We can’t, but Christ can. We have to surrender our wills to His and allow Him to work and flow through us.

The more we die to hate, hurt, and all other forms of sin and fleshly nature, the more Jesus can release His love, His healing, and all that is good and right in us and through us. The more we say yes to Jesus, the more He will live His life through us so we can walk in all He has for us.
