Sensitive to God- Part 2: The Father
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. Romans 8:14 (KJV)
This says that God leads His sons (and daughters) by His Spirit. Sonship is tied to the ability to hear our heavenly Father. The word sons in this verse speaks of mature sons, not children or teens. The more we grow up in God, the easier it will be for Him to lead us. We will want what He wants and not what we want all the time.
As we mature in God, we develop a greater sensitivity to Him and His guidance. As a result, we don’t grieve or hurt God through disobedience. We won’t grieve, offend, or quench God’s Spirit and His promptings, dealings, and leadings. We’ll be sensitive to obey, and when we don’t we’ll be quick to realize it, repent, and ask for forgiveness.
A tender heart is more sensitive to God and only wants to please Him. A sensitive heart is tender to God’s touch, feeling His presence and following His lead. We’ll be sensitive to pick up on things as we spend time in His presence. He will tug on and touch our hearts to get our attention and lead us by His Spirit.
Worshipping the Father and spending intimate time with Him increases our sensitivity to Him. And as we are sensitive to Him, we’ll be sensitive to others, to their needs and hurts. As the Father touches us, we reach out and touch others. God will lead us to minister to the needs of those we come in contact with. Being led by the Lord and being sensitive to Him leads us into a grand adventure and makes life exciting.
