Thoroughly Soaked
Psalm 16:11 says, “In Thy presence is fullness of joy.” God’s presence brings joy that is full, even overflowing. God’s joy and His other qualities overflow when we become saturated in Him.
The word saturate means to permeate until no more can be received, to soak thoroughly. How do we get saturated with God? By spending time with Him, taking time to bask and soak in His presence through worship, prayer, the Word, and fasting. When we are in God’s presence, we stay there and soak for a while, waiting before Him to receive more of Him. The goal is to stay until we’re running over with the anointing of God- until we are full and can receive no more. What happens next? Overflow! The anointing and power of God and His love that we have received spills over onto others, touching them with the same anointing that God touched us with. Psalms 23:5 calls this anointing our heads with oil so our cups run over- we are so full of Him that we can contain no more. This is when we discover God as El Shaddai, the Hebrew name for Him that means that He is more than enough for all we need- more than enough to meet every need. Malachi speaks of this kind of overflow.
Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. Malachi 3:10 (KJV) emphasis mine
To be honest, we can have as much of God as we want- it is dependent on our desire and effort. As we seek God and spend time waiting in His presence, soaking and becoming saturated with Him, then others will see God in us. When this happens, we can pass on to them the manifest presence of the Lord, which brings blessing, healing, deliverance, and more. When they experience God like that, it opens the door for us to share with them the gospel. This is why people were healed just by Peter’s shadow passing over them (Acts 5:15); he had spent time in God’s presence.
The more we give out, the more God can give back to us, drenching our lives with His goodness. It’s a marvelous cycle, and we can experience God’s glory and outpouring over and over. He longs to be good to us and have us enter into deep and overflowing fellowship with Him.
How much do you want to be soaked and saturated with God? That, my friend, is where God leaves it up to you.
“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. Matthew 7:7-8 (New Living Translation, NLT)
But without faith it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him [out]. Hebrews 11:6 (Amplified Bible Classic edition, AMPC)
God rewards those who seek Him. What is the reward he gives? Himself! The greatest reward of all is God Himself, because He is and He has all we will ever need.
The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows). John 10:10 (Amplified Bible Classic Edition, AMPC) emphasis mine.
Saturate me, oh Lord! Fill me to overflowing with more and more of You!
