Can't Finish What's Already Finished

When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. John 19:30 (KJV)

I want to remind you that you don’t have to strive and work to make things happen. When things don’t work out, rest in the finished work of Christ. When our works fail, we can receive His finished work. We can add nothing to what He has done- it is completed and all has been paid for. All we need to do is believe and receive what is already done.

We can’t add our works to Christ’s works, and we can’t finish what’s already finished. So, give up, let go, release it, cast your cares on the Lord. God loves and accepts you through the finished work of Calvary, so quit trying to earn His love and approval. Just rest in what has already been done for you. When a job has been done, all that remains to do is rest. The same is true of salvation.

For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's. I Corinthians 6:20 (KJV)

We have been bought with Jesus’ precious blood and body. When we understand that and accept what has been done on our behalf, we can rest and relax in Jesus. When Jesus said, “It is finished,” the original Greek language actually means “paid in full.” We don’t have to foot the bill. All we have to do is sit back and enjoy what He has purchased for us. Rest!
