The Gifts of the Spirit- Part 2
Today we continue the discussion we began yesterday about the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. I Corithians 12:1 (KJV)
Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. I Corithians 12:4 (KJV)
There are nine gifts, but just one Spirit. We cannot say that one gift is for today and another one is not. They are ALL given by the Holy Spirit as HE wills. It is not as we will, but as He wills.
But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. I Corinthians 12:11 (KJV)
He wills to give gifts and manifest Himself to us- if we let Him and give Him opportunity to move in our churches and lives. Just as salvation is for today, so is the Holy Spirit and His gifts. They are all a part of the salvation package. Jesus died for our sins and our healing and to allow the Holy Spirit to come.
We can’t pick and choose the gift(s) we want to operate in and when we get to use them. However, we can make ourselves available for them to flow through us. It is God’s will for all to be saved, healed and filled with the Holy Spirit- with the evidence of speaking in tongues. Tongues is our supernatural prayer language, or the Holy Spirit praying through us. Praying in tongues is an open door to the supernatural things of God. The more we pray in tongues, the more we will see the nine gifts in operation, manifestation, and demonstration.
Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. I Corinthians 12:4-6 (KJV)
If you look closely at this passage, you’ll notice that all three Members of the Trinity are working together to display the gifts. They are in agreement that the gifts are to manifest. We need to be in agreement with Them, allow God to be God, and let Him do what He wants when He wants. That is how the church and all believers are to demonstrate the power of God in today’s world.
Tomorrow we’ll continue this topic and begin to look at the individual gifts.
