Looking in the Wrong End

Have you ever picked up a set of binoculars and looked in the wrong end? If used improperly, that which is supposed to enlarge things that are far away ends up making everything seem far off and small. When we look at life’s possibilities through our own natural sight, it is like using the wrong end of the binoculars. We tend to see things as being far off and unattainable.

You do not have because you do not ask God. James 4:2 (New International Version, NIV)

I have had to ask the Holy Spirit to help me see bigger. Just like you, in my humanity I tend to reduce the size of what I can accomplish and the amount of ability I have. I need God’s vision to see bigger and farther. I need His perspective to envision the great things He has for me to do and have. If I don’t ask Him to help me see things His way, I won’t have the vision to see what He sees. And I really don’t want to remain limited by my own sight.

But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. I Corinthians 2:9-10 (NKJV)

There are dreams and plans that haven’t even entered my consciousness yet. I see the here and now, but I want to see the big picture and the path ahead. That is why I need the Holy Spirit’s help. He is the key to tapping into the bigger vision, the amazing things God has for me. To be honest, I am tired of being clueless and I need Him to give me His sight. I want to cross over from the physical into the spiritual, where I can see the plans and purposes of God and can bring them from the supernatural realm into the natural. I want to be used to manifest the glory of God on the earth. And it starts with seeing it in my mind’s eye.

God is doing big things. We are in a pivotal time in history. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you bigger vision so you can be instrumental in bringing the splendor, majesty, and might of God from the unseen realm into the seen.

Then, just as water covers the sea, people everywhere will know the Lord’s glory. Habakkuk 2:14 (New Century Version, NCV)
