Wonderful Jesus
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins. Matthew 1:21 (KJV)
As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, let’s pause to consider all that Jesus was and is. The name Jesus in Greek is Isous, which is the equivalent to Yeshua (Joshua) in Hebrew. It means Yahweh saves, Yahweh is salvation. Jesus, the Savior, or the Lord’s Salvation, was born to die to save mankind. Whosoever calls and believes on Jesus will be saved.
In the name Jesus are all the names of God and His titles. It tells His character, who He is, as well as His offices and nature.
Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:9-11 (KJV)
