Listen for the Turtledove
Look, the winter is past, and the rains are over and gone. The flowers are springing up, the season of singing birds has come, and the cooing of turtledoves fills the air. Song of Songs 2:11-12 (New Living Translation, NLT)
The past few days, I have heard the cooing of a turledove outside my office window. It’s a lovely sound that reminds me that spring is coming soon, just as the Bible notes in Song of Songs, or Song of Solomon as some call it.
Spring is always a welcome time. It means the end of the cold and dreary winter weather and announces the arrival of better temperatures. It speaks of new life and good things to come. The same is true of our lives and also of the times and seasons of nations. This is a time of hope for us as individuals and it is a time of hope for the world. The new is arriving and we should be rejoicing.
Things are looking overcast and ominous in the world, but the turledove is cooing- the Holy Spirit is moving. New things are on the way and we can be joyful in the midst of what we see around us. Now is the time to look up and not at the circumstances that surround on every side. When we look up in expectation, God does not disappoint us. He is bringing a new season full of new life and new growth. Things will blossom and we will be surrounded by freshness and beauty, not sickness, death, and fear.
Right now, make the choice to turn away from the bad reports that the enemy is bringing and listen for the turtledove. Know that the new is on the way, and God is taking us all into a beautiful season.
