The Promise of an Expected End
But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace. Psalm 37:11 (KJV)
Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace. Psalm 37:37 (KJV)
The word peace in these verses means blessing and wellbeing.
For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off. Proverbs 23:18 (KJV)
The word end in this verse means reward. From these Scriptures we can see that the meek, mature (perfect) person delights in God, follows God, and does things God’s way. Even when things go wrong and wicked people prosper, or we’ve waited a long time for justice and recompense, we can experience blessing and wellbeing. As we live out Psalm 37; trusting in God, delighting in God, committing to God, resting in God, waiting on God, and keeping God’s Word in our hearts and following Him, we have peace. There is wellbeing and blessing, maturity and uprightness.
The more we are treated wrong, the more God will make it right. The more we lose, the more God will give back. We must look to the end of a thing to stay encouraged and hopeful, confident, and believing- knowing God loves us. When we reach the end of a thing, there will be great reward. Our expectation will come to pass. We will delight ourselves in an abundance of peace- blessing and wellbeing- for all we endured.
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV)
