God Will Stand Up For Us

God Will Stand Up For Us

Remove from me reproach and contempt; for I have kept thy testimonies. Princes also did sit and speak against me: but thy servant did meditate in thy statutes. Thy testimonies also are my delight and my counselors. Psalm 119:22-24 (KJV) emphasis mine

When people reproach us, charging us with a fault or censuring, blaming and disgracing us, God will remove the charges against us. God will stand up and fight against those who come against us to bring contempt and scorn us. We are cleansed and covered by Christ’s blood, and God takes it personally when people come against us. Just get out of God’s way and let Him take care of things. God can do a better job of silencing the enemy than we ever could. When the enemy speaks out against us, God speaks up for us.

Jesus, our Defense Attorney, pleads our case before God, and God says, “Not guilty.” But, while Jesus is defending us, we need to meditate on God’s Word, thinking on it and speaking it. With the Word, we turn over our case to Jesus to present it to God (Isaiah 43:26).

My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world. I John 2:1-2 (New International Version, NIV)

Jesus is our advocate, which is parakletos in the Greek, which means one called alongside to help, aid used in a court of justice, legal assistance, counselor, one who defends another’s cause. Jesus is our atoning sacrifice, or propitiation in the King James Version. He is the Sacrifice, our Substitute, that satisfied God’s justice. Jesus is our heavenly Lawyer, our Defense Attorney, pleading our case before God.

No matter who speaks against us, as our case is pleaded before God, God’s Word is our counsel, showing us the course of action to take. We will see our enemies silenced and brought to justice as we walk out of the bondage of their accusations and walk in the freedom Christ and the Word bring. As we stand still, we will see God fight the battle and acquit us. God has removed all charges against us.

And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. Revelation 12:10 (KJV)

God has silenced the accuser of the brethren, satan. God declares us “Not Guilty,” and demands all enemies pay back all losses to us! God will always stand up for us to bring justice and restitution.
