From Scars to Stars
But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came. The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe. And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God. Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. John 20:24-29 (KJV)
We go through life and we get cut and hurt. We bleed- inide, and maybe even outside. We get wounded and the hurt runs deep. So, we try to hide the scars we’ve gotten from what we’ve been through.
Jesus was wounded for us and He has scars to show what He’s been through. Jesus never hid His scars. He told Thomas to check tham out. And when Thomas did, he got a revelation of who Jesus is. Jesus can and will use our scars to bring others to Him. If we will share our testimony, telling them about how Jesus healed our hurts and brought us back to life, they will be saved and made whole.
Jesus will take our scars and turn them into stars; bright shining lights radiating the news of how Jesus can heal and use anyone. Our scars become a light to show others what Jesus has brought us through victoriously. We have no more shame about who we are or what has happened to us. The scars become stars to be placed in our heavenly crowns, which we will throw at the feet of Jesus for all He has done for us.
God turns scars into stars as a shining light and testimony of what Jesus can and will do for anyone. Jesus was wiling to show His scars for all to see. He wants us to do the same without shame.
