Being One
“I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message. I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me. “I have given them the glory you gave me, so they may be one as we are one. I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me. John 17:20-23 (New Living Translation, NLT)
The world is on the brink of the greatest awakening to God that has ever happened. In order for it to take place and the masses to be won to the Lord, believers must become one. Division in the body of Christ has been the one biggest hindrance to the Lord’s return, and we must put aside all our differences.
From church to church, pastor to pastor, believer to believer, we must stop focusing on the doctrinal variations that the enemy has used to keep us splintered and ineffective. We have to work together and love one another regardless of our stance on various spiritual issues. The devil has used many things to divide us. Whether we speak in tongues or we don’t; whether we believe healing is for today or not; whether we accept the idea of once saved always saved or not; whether we like hymns or modern worship; whether we are white, black, brown or even green, we must become one. To keep our brothers and sisters at bay because they don’t worship like we do, don’t believe entirely like we do, or even because they don’t look like we do- is a sin. The enemy has had a field day with us- and it stops now!
Jesus knew their thoughts and replied, “Any kingdom divided by civil war is doomed. A town or family splintered by feuding will fall apart. Matthew 12:25 (New Living Translation, NLT)
To my brothers and sisters in Christ- you may not agree with everything we post on this blog. As a matter of fact, you may downright disagree with some of our beliefs. However, we love you, and we are for you. Let’s choose to work together without competition and without fear that someone will get the advantage over us in some way. If you believe that Jesus died in your place, was buried, raised from the dead, and now lives- then we are family. We have your back, and we hope you have ours. We are all in the kingdom of God, and that kingdom must not be divided against itself.
Are we going to put our own interests aside and finally get it together so we can become the answer to Jesus’ prayer? I believe we will, but it is up to each of us to do our part. We are one body, so let’s walk in love so the world will know we are all one.
