The Promise Keeper
For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. II Corinthians 1:20 (KJV)
For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God. II Corinthians 1:20 (New International Version, NIV)
There are many promises God has made to us. Christ is the guarantee of those promises; they are being fulfilled in Him. God wants us to agree that His promises are for us and they will come to pass. God is a promise keeper, not a promise breaker. God never has and never will lie.
God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill? Numbers 23:19 (New International Version, NIV)
Whatever God promises, He has the ability and power to bring it to pass. All of the promises that He fulfilled in the Bible prove that He is faithful to do what He says. God promised Abraham that he would have a child, and He did. God promised Jesus that if He died, God would raise Him from the dead- and He did!.
God promised to save us, we received that promise, and now we’re saved. God’s record is perfect. What He promises, He does. So, know and claim God’s promises- He’s written them in His Book for us to discover and have. Rehearse what He did for others in the Scriptures. Anything He’s done for someone else, He will do for us. His promises are ours for the claiming. We just have to believe Him, speak His promises, act on them, and we’ll receive them.
For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory. II Corinthians 1:20 (New Living Translation, NLT)
