Dance

And David danced before the Lord with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod. So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the Lord with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet. And as the ark of the Lord came into the city of David, Michal Saul's daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the Lord; and she despised him in her heart. II Samuel 6:14-16 (KJV) emphasis mine

In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, Luke 10:21 (KJV)

In this verse from Luke 10, Jesus rejoiced. Rejoice in the Greek means to jump for joy, shouting, leaping, skipping, to confess publicly, to give thanks. From this, we can see it includes elements of dance. In the New American Standard Bible (NASB), it says this:

At that very time He rejoiced greatly in the Holy Spirit, Luke 10:21 (NASB)

He rejoiced, danced, in the Holy Spirit.

Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp. Psalm 149:3 (KJV)

As David and Jesus praised God in the dance, we are to also praise Him in the dance. There is power in dancing before the Lord.

As we take a step to dance before God, our faith will step on fear, and the Spirit of God will come upon us and we’ll find a new liberty. The more we praise God with dancing, the freer we become. God’s Spirit will release into us new anointing, power, and glory. We will experience God’s presence in fresh, new way.

Dancing can be celebration, but it can also be warfare. We can dance on fear and trouble, treading on serpents (demons). As we experience God’s glory in the dance, it will change us to be more like Christ. We’ll be able to tap into all that’s in the glory of God: wisdom, life, power, riches, even God Himself. By dancing we can trade stress for peace, weakness for strength, and sickness for healing. We can dance over pain and hurt, depression and discouragement, over anything that would try to hold us down and hold us back.

We can dance in the flow of the river of the Holy Spirit, which is a life-giving force. The river brings life, liberty, laughter, and so much more. Our praise to God takes on a new dimension and we areleased into the spirit realm where God is. God will get involved and dance with us.

The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing. Zephaniah 3:17 (KJV)

He rejoices. In other words, He dances over us with singing. Hear God sing over you. Hear Jesus sing with you in praise to the Father. Holy Spirit will get involved and anoint your dancing, singing, praising, rejoicing. Dance and receive new anointing to worship, sing, write songs, and hear from God. Immerse yourself in dancing to Him and He will sing, dance, twirl and spin around over you, singing His love song to you.

As we dance, new things are birthed for us, as well as in us. As we touch the Father’s heart through dance and sincere praise and worship, He pours out all we need in abundance.
